Thank you for taking such a close editorial interest in this story. I hope that it was at least mildly distracting for such a cold analytical mind as is apparent from your comments. I took the liberty of merging your comments into one for a more streamlined appearance.

King's Cross was a genuine clerical error, now corrected; and given the circumstances of writing I am surprised that there are not more similar mistakes. No-body however is a distinction of my writing, deliberately used despite its modern form, as a means of artificially ageing the work in the same way that I normally write tele-phone and mid-day. Many of my favourite writers write like this, and I like how it looks.

With regard to the fiery maelstrom and pits of flame. In the earlier passage I was explaining the way that the cavern was lit, by the flames from pits far below at the bottom of the abyss. With maelstrom I was trying to suggest again the sheer size of the cavern, by implying that it had its own weather systems, caused by the heat from the flames far below. Or some similar idea. To be brutally honest I am using them as if they were synonymous out of a distinct hatred of using the same word over and over.

I trust this will satisfy your inquisitiveness.

It says that there is a fiery maelstrom, but before you just said that they were pits of flame. Please explain.

Also, King's Cross should have an apostrophe and nobody shouldn’t have a hyphen.
